ASTRONOTE CHOIR
The Astronote Choir was founded in 2013 in Padua, thanks to the initiative of its director Giuseppe Murineddu within the ‘Copernico’ University Residence. A mixed-voice vocal formation, Astronote sings entirely a cappella a mainly Italian and international pop repertoire, without disdaining pieces of popular inspiration and other genres of polyphonic repertoire. Born as a university choir, they have grown together, beginning to no longer identify themselves solely as a student choir, but as a vocal group of all ages and backgrounds. In fact, the choir currently consists of around 50 choristers from numerous regions of Italy and Europe. Always sensitive to the world of volunteering and charity, the choir has taken part in numerous events supporting a wide variety of charitable causes, from fundraising to awareness campaigns. The choir has performed in the most well-known squares, theatres, auditoriums, residences and schools in the city of Padua and the Veneto region. In particular, it has participated annually in the S. Massimo choral review for university choirs and in December 2015 it was a guest at the 15th edition of the Play the Voice concert, organised by the Vocalica group at the Pio X Theatre in Padua. Since January 2016, the choir has been a member of ASAC-Veneto, the association for the development of choral activities, and since the same year it has organised a choral review entitled ‘Incanto POP’, which has hosted other groups from the Italian territory. Particularly noteworthy were the five participations, in the years 2017-2018-2019-2022- 2024, in the ‘Rassegna dei Cori Padovani’, which has been held in the city of Padua for over 40 years, and in the ‘Venezia in coro’ event, both organised by ASAC-Veneto. In 2016 and 2022 Astronote participated in the Festival della coralità veneta, receiving several positive reviews and scoring well in the distinction band. The desire to share a passion for singing and being together in joy are the driving force that drives the Astronote choristers to meet weekly and that has kept them alive and active even in such a complex and tortuous historical period as the lockdown.

Choral music is also history: of forms, of genres but, above all, of emotions that vibrate from the Renaissance to the present day.
