I° INTERNATIONAL OPERA COMPETITION ‘LONATO ALL'OPERA
Dedicated to the musician ‘PAOLO CHIMERI’
The Association ‘La Bottega della Lirica’ based in Lonato del Garda, announces an International Opera Competition dedicated to the illustrious musicians and fellow citizens Filippo and Paolo Chimeri.
The event will take place over three days: on the first two days all candidates will be heard; on the third day the best selected will perform in a concert during which the Commission will decide the winners and the audience present will also be involved in the awarding of a further prize.
The final evening will feature musicologist Dr. Mariella Sala, who will illustrate the figures of Filippo and Paolo Chimeri, and the Lonatesi singers Alessia Panza and Marta Pluda, who will perform some pieces written by the two composers.
The judging commission will be composed of world-famous artists, opera agents, artistic directors of theatres and will be chaired by Maestro Roberto Scandiuzzi.

The Competition will take place in the Sala degli Specchi of the Municipal Library (Palazzo Zambelli, floor 1), where the selections and the Final will be held on 23 February from 5 p.m. and will be open to the public.
The winners of the 1st ‘Paolo Chimeri’ International Opera Competition will be awarded prizes both in cash and in collaboration with the Agents and Directors of the Theatres who will be involved in the Jury.
The cash prizes will be distributed as follows 1st prize 1,500 euros; 2nd prize 1,000 euros; 3rd prize 600 euros and there will be an audience prize. In addition, the winners will be reserved a role in Giacomo Puccini's opera ‘La Bohème’, which will be studied during the summer workshop and staged next July at the Rocca di Lonato del Garda.
