Concert of Extended Singularity

Among their numerous projects is also the one that since 2018 sees them side by side in the duo Singularity, i.e. the space-time point in which the energies of the two musicians swirl and take shape, starting from reinterpretations of the less popular jazz repertoire of musicians such as Kenny Wheeler or John Taylor, and arriving at total electronic improvisation. In both cases, the music glides on very free tracks, in which the close dialogue that the two musicians are able to weave is more important than the harmonic references of the chosen pieces.

Born as an electro-acoustic extension of this well-established duo, the more recent quartet Extended Singularity explores equally vast musical territory, even touching on the most radical improvisation. The tight-knit rhythmic pair of Tuscan double bassist Gabriele Evangelista and from Marche drummer Alessandro Paternesi, musicians well known to Italian fans, are the perfect rhythm section to further extend the infinite sonic possibilities already offered by the duo, admirably combining innovative research and knowledge of tradition, introspective reflection and infectious groove. Each of their performances is a surprising and evocative journey, along territories and towards destinations that are always difficult to foresee, and for this reason even more fascinating.

Theirs is a truly 'net-less' concert, in which, as Onorati is keen to point out, 'it is not what we choose to play that counts, but how we play it'. The intention is to demonstrate that when there is the right interplay and sincere expressive urgency, even the freest, apparently difficult music manages to involve and enthuse listeners.
