The Romanesque Church of San Zeno

Via San Zeno

The Romanesque parish church rises up on the top of an isolated hill and shows an architectonical structure of the 14th century.

Positioning east-west, it has a unique room of meters 26,5 for meters 8,5 with an half-circular apse and a double sloped roof.
The brickwork structure reveals the complex layering of different masonries; the variety of the stone materials, of the manufactures and of the mortar shows  two different productive phases of the Romanesque age.
The iron gray sandstone, cut and smoothed, was used in the apse and in a lot of the details.
The façade, the only part of the church that was changed in its originality, shows ashlars of different sizes.
